Art of Deception

Art’s got something he just has to tell Evelyn… Does she have a little secret of her own?

Joel Samberg (playwright), an Avon resident for 14 years, is a journalist and author whose recent novels include Blowin’ in the Wind and Almost Like Praying. His next novel, Jackie Jester, will be published this winter. Joel’s series of 10-minute plays, Six Tens from a Fifty, was performed by the Etcetera Theatre Company at the Beckmann Theater in Manhattan in 2007. He is also the humor columnist for Connecticut Magazine.

Les Zinner (director), has been involved in summer stock theater in Corning, NY as an actor and director, and has worked on virtually all aspects of production. He has also been involved with cable television production in Westchester County, NY performing in weekly short comedy skits. Les is pleased to be part of Playhouse 44’s debut group of play directors.

Patricia Kazakoff (Evelyn) is proud to be in Playhouse 44’s debut production. She has performed in and around Hartford, most notably at the Ivoryton Playhouse, The Warner, The Evelyn Gilman Theater at the Mandell JCC, New Haven’s Theater of Arts and Ideas, and Park Road Playhouse. Pat understudied for 17 roles at Hartford Stage’s Orphan’s Home Cycle trilogy, worked with the West Hartford Improv Theater (WHIT) for many years, and performed at many venues in and around New York and Connecticut. “Special thanks to all the wonderful people in this great community!”

Michael Isko (Art) has been performing since childhood. In college he appeared in plays by John Guare, Athol Fugard, and Sam Shepard, and more recently portrayed Lazar Wolf in Fiddler on the Roof at the Mandel JCC. He is regularly featured in readings of plays by Ben Engel as part of the Emanual Synagogue Players, produces and performs in storyteller nights at the Buttonwood Tree Art Center in Middletown, and has worked with the New Haven Festival of Arts and Ideas. Michael is delighted to be part of this new troupe.
